A NOTE ON DE
Not all DE is created equal. There are many DE products on the market and the descriptions can be confusing. Rather than relying on words like superfine or microfine or fines look at the particle size.
1 micron is 0.001mm.
Different to Diatomaceous Earth fines which is upwards of 100 micron.
Different to 2-4mm DE (2000-4000 micron) or 8mm DE (8000 micron)
Diatomaceous earth particle size must be under 10 microns to be most effective against insects as discussed in this Turkish research paper.
Read the report showing the benefit of high grade DE (like Grainsave) HERE.
DE is almost pure amorphous silica (with some beneficial trace minerals); under a microscope, it looks like shards of glass (glass is made from silica). On any beetle-type insect that has a carapace, like fleas and cockroaches, the DE works under the shell and punctures the body, which then dehydrates and the insect dies. DE is totally nontoxic. There is no buildup of tolerance like there is to poisons because the method of killing is PHYSICAL, not chemical. Grainsave TM is a super fine milled DE to give greater surface area to volume ratio for better impact.

Breathing protection recommended when applying, as per MSDS.
